Week 1 Thursday Night Football - Rams vs Bills

Updated: Sep 7

Week 1 finally kicks off this Thursday with the Rams and Bills. This is an exciting matchup for the first game of the year. A lot to dive into - here we go!

Rams -

The Rams come into this game in an interesting spot. The roster is mostly similar to last year, with a few key changes. Allen Robinson slides in to replace OBJ, and I firmly believe this is a huge upgrade. We've been waiting years and years for the Allen Robinson breakout, and I believe it's finally time that we see what he's really capable of in this offense. He's going to a major piece this season, and will take a lot of pressure off of Cooper Kupp.

The main question mark for the Rams Offense coming into the year is obviously the health of Matthew Stafford. We haven't seen anything from him this offseason, and that is a bit concerning to me. This elbow issue he's dealing with could linger throughout the season, posing a major problem for this team. I can see a scenario where Stafford sits out multiple games this year. If that's the case, the Offense will take a major step back.

On Defense, I fully expect a similar performance as last year. This Defense is still loaded with talent, and now knows what it takes to win a championship. Aaron Donald remains hungry for more, which is a great sign. Losing Von Miller may hurt, but not enough to make a huge difference in my opinion.

Bills -

The Bills roll into this matchup with essentially the same squad as last season. It seems like they've been a public favorite all off-season, and for good reason. They were 13 seconds away from beating Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs last season. Josh Allen is arguably the most talented QB in the league this year, and will look to build upon the tough playoff loss to the Chiefs.

On Offense, I'm expecting a huge breakout season for Gabe Davis. I grabbed him in all my fantasy drafts so far. He looks poised to have a great year, and the best part is, nobody is talking about him. He's quietly flown under the radar all off-season, and I think he shows out in this Week 1 matchup with the Rams.

On Defense, the Bills have added Super Bowl champion Von Miller, which is a huge pick up for this team. He'll bring a veteran leadership that this team will need to ascend to new heights.

Betting this game -

The Bills are currently -2.5 favorites in this one, with the total at 52.5.

My betting brain wants to desperately fade the Rams at home coming off their Super Bowl win. I love the Bills here at -2.5. I think they come into this season looking to prove that they belong, and what better way to do so than coming into the Super Bowl champion's house and starting off the year with a statement win.

I don't really want to touch the O/U here. It's the first game of the season and anything can happen. If I had to lean, it would be to the Under.

Official play - Bills -2.5 (-108) 1u (Fanduel Sportsbook)

NFL Football is finally back! I'm excited for the season to get going! Peace.
